Question: It seems that sometimes I can’t tolerate interruptions to my self-absorption. Irritations, big and small, intruding on my desire to settle into the false comfort of ego, can seemingly produce a “me” that is argumentative, difficult, and short-tempered. I’m guessing that I’m not alone in this. How can we engage emotional provocations and self-centeredness in ways that turn us toward dharma practice and life? Some just want to find a little niche for themselves where they can look out of the window and see the same scenery every day. Some want to find a perfect partner, or as near perfect as possible. |

Translated into English by Pháp Hạnh Read in VietnameseMindfully reciting the Buddha’s Name is to make images of the Buddhas present in our minds. We allow the Buddhas’ aspiration for enlightenment to spring up in our consciousness. We also make the Buddhas’ sacred vows and conducts present in each and every gesture, movement, and action of us in our daily lives. By doing so, we are present in Them and They are present in us. Furthermore, Their Pure Lands gradually manifest themselves in our consciousness and we will automatically be present in Their Pure Lands. |
